Some places should stay quiet.

A first-person survival horror game set in Hearth, a woodland settlement where supplies are shared, trust is fragile and exile changes everything. Leave the walls in a MOTH suit, maintain the sensor network and listen carefully to what moves beyond its coverage.

Explore contaminated woodland and abandoned places. Manage weapons, filters and equipment. Build relationships, take part in community decisions and face the Thornback beyond the safety of camp.

FULL CURRENT DEVELOPMENT BUILD — v0.45.1

Both downloads include the full currently implemented game, not a prologue-only demo. This is an evolving development build: expect rough edges, bugs and unfinished content.

Windows x64 and macOS downloads are available. The Mac build has been exercised on the developer’s Intel Mac. The Windows export and package have been checked, but Windows gameplay and performance still need independent playtesting.

UPDATE 0.45.1 — HOSPITAL PROLOGUE

Rain, thunder, denser woodland and a darker hospital opening. Added backpack crowbar use for the jammed door, clearer torch/filter prompts and medical loot. Fixed the settler surrender sequence and dropped pistol, final raider combat and the transition to Frank. The prologue soundtrack is louder and continues through exploration.

Start a New Game to experience the revised opening. Existing saves remain separate from the download. Performance is still being improved: recent Intel Mac forest checks were approximately 17–21 FPS at 1280×720, below the target frame rate.

INSTALLATION

Windows: extract the ZIP and run The Sickness.exe. Keep The Sickness.pck beside it.

Mac: extract the ZIP and move The Sickness.app to Applications. This development build is not Apple-notarized.

No personal save is bundled. Choose New Game to begin. Controls and credits are included in each download.

CONTROLS

WASD move · Mouse look · E interact · Left click fire · Q / right mouse aim · R reload · F torch · B backpack · N notebook · M map · Escape pause. Xbox-style controller support is included.
